Victor Dahdaleh and Bruce Hall (Cymraeg)

In October 2011 the SFO brought charges against Victor Dahdaleh, an international businessman, in relation to contracts for the supply of goods and services to a Bahraini company, Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba).

In February 2012, the SFO charged Bruce Hall, who served as CEO of Alba from September 2001 to June 2005, with related corruption offences. Mr Hall pleaded guilty in June 2012 to one count of conspiracy to corrupt.

Mr Dahdaleh’s case came to trial in November 2013, but the prosecution decided on 10 December to offer no evidence, having concluded that due to adverse developments in the case that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.

Mr Hall was sentenced to 16 months in prison in July 2014 and was ordered to pay a confiscation order of £3m. This was paid in full. Mr Hall also paid in full a compensation order of £500,010 to Alba. He paid a further £100,000 as a contribution to prosecution costs.
