Saunders Electrical Wholesalers Ltd
Jolan Saunders pleaded guilty in July 2015 to one count of conspiracy to defraud and one count of acting as a director of a company whilst disqualified. He was sentenced to seven years in prison for the conspiracy to defraud charge and one year, to run concurrently, for acting as a director whilst disqualified.
Strubel and Steinberg, who were both tried and found guilty by a jury in February this year, were sentenced to seven years and six years and nine months respectively.
They were charged, on 11 March 2013, with conspiracy to defraud investors in an alleged investment fraud related to electrical contracts in the hotel sector. Jolan Saunders was additionally charged with acting as a director of a company whilst disqualified.
Outcome of criminal case
Jolan Saunders pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud and to acting as a director of a company whilst disqualified. Michael Strubel was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud. Spencer Steinberg was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud.
Sentencing

Michael Strubel and Spencer Steinberg were sentenced to seven years and six years and nine months respectively.
Appeal
Renewed applications made by Saunders, Strubel and Steinberg for leave to appeal against sentence and for Strubel and Steinberg against conviction, were heard at the Court of Appeal on 11 April 2017. All applications were refused.
